Livetickr alternatives in brief
What each one is, who it suits, and where to read the full comparison.
24liveblog
A hosted live blog from a US company, embedded as an iframe, with a free plan that carries sponsored ads. A good fit if you need a free tool today and want its sports templates, desktop apps and reader comments.
24liveblog vs LivetickrLive blog for large newsroomsTickaroo
A mature live blog from Regensburg, used by large German-language newsrooms, with sports data, apps and CMS integrations. The strongest choice for a big newsroom. Its smallest subscription is €499 a month.
Tickaroo vs LivetickrDiscontinuedScribbleLive
A live blog service from Toronto, acquired by Rock Content in 2019 and shut down in December 2023. Its embed domain no longer resolves, so old embeds show nothing.
ScribbleLive vs LivetickrThe most common option: no tool at all
Most live coverage we see runs in a normal article, edited by hand, newest line on top.
For a few live events a year, that can be enough, and it costs nothing extra. It gets hard on the big nights: every update is a full article edit, two editors cannot write at once, timestamps are typed by hand, and readers only see the new line if they reload.
Livetickr takes that work off the desk. Editors post in a dashboard, and the ticker in your article updates itself, with no reload for the reader and no cache for you to clear.

Short answers, with the details on each comparison page.
What is the best Livetickr alternative?
It depends on the newsroom. Tickaroo suits large newsrooms that need sports data and CMS integrations. 24liveblog suits publishers who want a free plan today and are fine with an iframe and sponsored ads. For a few live events a year, a hand-edited article can be enough.
Is there a free alternative to Livetickr?
Livetickr itself is free during the closed beta. After the launch it starts at €69 per event, with no free plan. Among the alternatives, 24liveblog has a free Starter plan with sponsored ads and a limit of 100,000 pageviews a month.
Which Livetickr alternative has live sports data?
Tickaroo offers live sports data and widgets on its Enterprise plan, with partners such as Opta and SID. 24liveblog has templates for more than ten sports with live scores. Livetickr has no sports data feed; match tickers are written by your editors.
What happened to ScribbleLive?
Rock Content, which acquired ScribbleLive in 2019, ended its Live product in December 2023. Old ScribbleLive embeds no longer load.
24liveblog, Tickaroo and ScribbleLive are trademarks of their respective owners. Livetickr is not affiliated with any of them.
The case for Livetickr
If you are still comparing, these are the four things Livetickr is built around. Each one shows up on the night your live coverage brings in the most readers.
Part of your article
The feed renders into your page, not into a frame. It takes the width of your column and follows your layout, so readers stay in your article.
Seen by every reader
No cookies and no stored IP addresses, so the ticker needs no consent banner of its own. Readers see your coverage without clicking accept first.
No ads, your brand
There are no ads in the feed. Your coverage carries your brand color and design, and author cards credit the editor who wrote each update.
Hosted in Germany
Operated by fdmedia GmbH in Walldorf, hosted in Frankfurt. When your data protection officer asks where reader data goes, the answer is one sentence.
What you get
The essentials for live coverage, plus the extras that make it nicer to work with.
Embed anywhere in one line of code
WordPress, Next.js, a static page, a landing page for a single event. If it renders HTML, your ticker works there, with the same one-line tag. Paste it yourself in a minute, no developer or rebuild needed.
<script defer
src="https://cdn.livetickr.io/embed.js"
id="livetickr-feed"
data-ticker-id="tkr_9f3ab2"></script>Always live, no reloads
Publish an update and it shows up in every embedded ticker within seconds. Readers keep reading.
Privacy-first, no cookies
The embed sets no cookies and stores no IP addresses, so live coverage doesn’t drag a consent banner along.
Rich block editor
Text, quotes, images, social and video embeds: structured, not one long text field.
On-brand designs
Choose a timeline, markers or an editorial list, then set it all in your own brand color.
Author cards
Avatar, bio and social links on every post, so the byline credit lands where it belongs.
Schedule ahead
Prepare updates in advance and they publish themselves at the exact minute you set.
Write, paste, done
Three steps from a blank editor to a live blog on your own page.
Write the update
A clean block editor for text, quotes, images and embeds. Publish now, or schedule it to go live the moment it starts.
Drop in one tag
One <script> tag on any page, any CMS. No plugin, no theme surgery, no developer needed. Paste it once, the embed does the rest.
It updates itself
New posts appear in the embedded ticker on their own, within seconds. Readers stay on the page: no reload, no missed moment.

The Livetickr composer, writing a live update in the block editor.
